Default KLR wannabe

Currently own a XT600 but have always drooled over all the mods available for the KLR . Fuel capacity being a huge limiting factor for me. will be purchasing a KLR next spring and hope to learn lots from this site to make a good purchasing decision.

Welcome ! From the west side of the mountains I take it "beachcomber". Grew up in WA, both sides of the mountains. You'd better do the T-mod first.. lots of water where you are from !!! Once again, welcome!

Thanks for the info Brian. Whats a T-mod? Still trying to figure out what a doohickey is all about. Do all my own maintenance, but still trying to learn KLRese. XT is about to hit 40K miles and still going strong but is very limited to how far I can travel and what can be carried.

I could go through a speel about the T-mod, doohickey. .22 mod, etc, etc, and make myself feel knowledgeable but the best thing to do is hit the Maintenance and Mods subforum (how-to stuff) and read the threads. Lots of KLR smarties on this site and you will learn a ton. You have plenty of time to become a KLRist before spring... The doohickey is the idler balancer tensioner lever, old ones break, new ones are loose. The T-mod helps keep your bike running in deep water or torrential downpours (Those are the Readers Digest versions...) See you around the forums !!
