Hey all, I was trying to put on a new tire but i think i ended up warping the inner ring part when trying to lever on the last part of the tire. I bent the lever and everything.
What do you guys think? Its basically a new stock tire that i bought off a friend. It was perfectly good when i got it. Im pissed at myself for doing this to the tire. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I won't tell you to try to use the tire. I wonder if you could even get the bead to seat right.
It looks like you did not have the tire at 180 degrees from where you were using the spoons down in the center spoke well/grove. Also it looks like you were taking too large bites with the spoons and I see no lubrication. It might make a good practice tire. |

Looks like you ripped the bead in a couple places. If so it's not a good thing, I wouldn't trust it. Hard way to learn BUT better thanposting I "crashed because..."
I'd write it off and look for a new tire as the price of a tire is much lower than a hospital stay.

If you are struggling to install a tire you're doing it wrong. Time for a new tire and some instructions. It takes practice and technique along with a couple specific tools.

Apart from obviously needing lessons in tyre fitting.........
It is a tubed tyre [and on that, why don't you have the tube in there already? The valve should be showing through the hole in the rim with the tyre at this point of fitting], as a tubed tyre it should still fit up without a problem. The air pressure once the tube is inflated will seat the tyre bead against the inside of the rim [the tyre should be inflated to whatever the maximum shown on the sidewall says, or by 15-20psi over the normal inflation pressure, then let it back down to your normal riding pressure]. I have seen/fitted car and bike tyres with the bead looking bent more than what yours is. Find someone local to help you and show you how to fit tyres [and you need lube, that bead is as dry as...... well you fill in what it is as dry as Seriously though, get someone who knows what they are doing to teach you how to fit tyres correctly and safely [we all had someone teach us in the beginning]. I reiterated the "get someone to show you" bit because you need to learn the SAFE way to do tyres. ![]() |
