Mixedsignal and I thought it appropriate to make it out to Yankee Doodle Lake on the extended 4th of July weekend holiday. There is just a little snow pack left . . .

I went back up Rollins Pass to Yankee Doodle Lake with two friends this morning. I was suprised to see there is stil some glacier left.

My buddy Ron on the right and his work colleague Richard left (a Suzuki DRZ 400 rider).

Catching the view on top of the Colorado mountains never get old. I think I'm addicted to being above the treeline now.

We finally had a day of rain yesterday in Colorado. The Flatirons in Boulder had a interesting fog or cloud bank hanging out in front of them.

Maybe the last warm off-road ride of the year.

I've heard about changing tire sizes, but I think this is a bit overboard...

I posted three of these in the "Introduce Yourself" thread - and I figured "what the hell", I'd post 'em here, too...

These were taken a couple weeks ago when I took the new 2012 up to the top of the Oquirrh Mountains between the Salt Lake Valley and Tooele Valley, to the Oquirrh Overlook. The mine is the Bingham Canyon Mine owned/operated by Kennecott Utah Copper/Rio Tinto. It's one of the largest open pit copper mines in the world, and has been in production for over 105 years.

Elevation at this point is just over 9,000 ft.

So far, I'm only up to about 500 miles on The Mule, and I'm loving it! I grew up on dual-sport bikes (called enduros way back in the day), and getting back on one is almost like going back in time for me!

That's the main reason I went with the 2012 over the 2013 - I MUCH prefer the color scheme of the 2012 grey/black over the 2013 black.

Oh, and I messed up posting the pics earlier. I meant to post this one as the fourth pic:
