I really want to get some nice boots to wear when riding. I'm looking to get some street boots because I would like to have a sportbike by next summer
and I hardly ever ride off road. So I was wondering is there a website you recommend for boots? I don't want to spend a lot of money, so I'm more or less looking for closeout deals on last years models, etc. Or since I want to get a sport bike, I could just wear flip flops .Thanks for any info.

hmmmm, if you have a brand and model of boot, try punching that name into google along with words like "discount", "clearance", etc (one at a time) and see what you get.
i'm considering getting a pair of Red Wing boots for around town... nice non-skid soles and fairly comfy... should be cheaper than my Danners which i don't think are non-skid. still need serious boots for off road stuff tho. |

Wow, great sites, guys! How versatile are boots? What I mean is, would it be better to just have street boots or to just have MX boots? I plan on doing a lot of riding this winter and mess around in mud, etc so I want a good boot for that. However 95%+ of my riding is on road. What type of boot would be for me?
I'm also going to get some pants, a jersey, and new gloves. Those sites you guys listed have some good deals. Should I buy from there? Thanks for helping me out in picking some gear. Buick, how do the Roam boots compare with the Ridge?

If New Enough has your size and something you like on Closeout, they are the best bargain: www.newenough.com
I have some sidi motosports (3/4 height) that are nice. I also have a pair of Setups (full height, road) that are about equivalent in quality to sidi. In fact, sidi just bought out Setup, and the only thing they did was raise the price by about $50/pair. I think you can still get the old prices at www.setupusa.com You can see exactly the same boots at www.motonation.com. in fact, if you call startup to place an order...you get the Motonation office (Sidi's sales central) |

If you're just doing light fire trails, graded dirt roads, a street boot will be OK. Anything with rocks or other things that can give a good blow to your shins, and I think you need dual sport boots or MX boots.

Would MX boots work well as a street boot or not?

I love my Sidi s. Don't remember the model number on em... but they are tall and have a velco outside with a rubber/zipper insert. Look great for street or dirt. My feet have never been wet, and I have walked thru some mountain streems with em. Probably one of the best investments for myself/bike so far. Kevin=Iwannaride

I dropped $130 on a set of Fox MX boots and have spent some time in them. Riding weekends or multistate trips have me cinched into these things for 15 hour days, as much as 4 and 5 days at a time, and though they are a bit clunky when you have to stop for gas or lunch, they are actually fine while riding on the bike. Foot powder and spare MX socks help to keep the feet comfy. This pair aint very waterproof, but the steel tips sure look tuff!
As a poor white-trash lad who spent all his hard earned money on a few bike parts and a brand new pair of chen-sing tires, I had to make do with old work boots for riding gear. Thank God I'll never have to do that again. If you never crash, then it don't matter. But I crash alot and have a heckuva good time doing it. IMHO, going back to work on Monday with a few scabs and some wild stories is great, missing a month from work 'cause you're all broke up suck$. Off-road requires MX gear, at least for my crash-prone-old-ass (tm). Riding the KLR to Death Valley, Moab or Prudhoe Bay, I'd opt for the MX boots. And carry some sneakers for round the camp use. ttfn, MarkB |

Sidi do a courier boot thats a softer MX boot i suppose you could say but with road abilitys. The Alpinestars i have are the M4 which are not so rigid as the M6 etc. My street boots are the Sidi Vertabrae and ive always said they had a lot of MX influences in them.
Rooster, im not to sure about the Altbergs mate. Ive heard of em but never seen a pair or heard of anyone with a pair ![]() |

Aerostich Combat Touring boots (made by Sidi) have been found by some to be a good compromise. A lot of my friends find them comfortable enough for touring, while offering enough protection for offroad use. I just wear mine off-road, and usually find them ok, but on really rocky trails, I have wished for more armor.
No matter what you wear on the bike, I'll second Mark's advice about carrying sneakers or other soft shoes to wear in camp. Roger Lovin calls "footgloves" an essential part of your touring kit. It's nice to give those stinky old boots a chance to air out while you lounge around the campfire. |

Alright, I think I've narrowed it down to getting an MX boot. What I was planning on doing was wearing riding boots when I'm out on a ride or something and just wear shoes when commuting. I just need to know if MX boots would work well for tearing up some twisty roads and stuff. If they'll work good for on roads and short walks, I'll get those otherwise, I'll probably get some street boots. I really want to go riding off-road tho.
If someone could please take a look at this page and let me know what's a good deal. Are the Oneal boots any good? Or should I get the Alpinestars TECH 4S? http://www.motoshopper.com/s/shop/li...RIDING+APPAREL Or are these boots a better deal? http://www.newenoughmx.com/boots/thor_t30_mens_boot.htm Thanks ![]()
