Default Garmin Zumo 550 mounting question.

Does anyone who has a Garmin Zumo 550 have pictures on where or how they have mounted it? I'm worried about losing it due to vibration, I have my Garmin on order and should recieve it in a few days, I'm just wondering if anyone has used the stock mount or if anyone likes aftermarket mounts.

Yep. 10000 miles and no vib problem. Don't think I have pics, I can take some tomorrow. I mounted mine as far left as I could.

I was planning to mount it as close to the center as possible to keep it out of the wind/rain/stones from big trucks.

go with a ram mount, short middle bar and zumo mounting plate.. the ram systems are awesomely good. you can mount them any way your heart desires.

Are you sure they mount to the little bar? Is this a V1? The unit is water proof, or mine is so far. It' catches some wind and rain. I'll take some picks tomorrow. If you mount it in the center you block your instruments.

That's what it comes with from Garmin, and that's what I used to mount it as far to the left as I could. The unit is designed to be operated with your left hand anyway.

I totalled two Gold Wings last year with my 550 mounted on them and it still works fine. The cradle never moved in either crash and the GPS worked just fine afterwards. It is now mounted on a third GL 1800. The Zumo 550 is a great GPS for a motorcycle.

There is a magnet where the rubber cover clips to on the bottom.
