OK, I'm now trading in my KLR for a new Versys, but I've detected a potential problem.
It looks as though the stock seat could be too soft. I'm wondering where to find a "stiffer" seat. Your input, please!

I went through the stock seat in a hurry, then had some work done on the stock seat. I had it flattened some and a little extra foam installed. That made a lot of difference.
I had a chance to buy a Corbin seat, and I say it is the best way to go. Expensive, yes, but at the end of an 8 hour day my keester is so happy. Not everyone likes Corbin's. I had the Corbin flat on my KLR, and it made a believer out of me.I now have the Corbin on my Concours 1400 as well. I haven't sat on one yet, but Sargent is also making a seat for the Versys and it looks really good. I have liked every Sargent seat I have ridden on other folks bikes. I should have saved the 90 bucks I spent trying to remodel the stock seat and just gone to the Corbin or Sargent right off the bat. My .02 |

I could go either way. There's a decent upholstery shop not far away. Then again, a custom seat is worth thinking about, too.
Other than that, I could add some saddlebags, and it looks like the Versys should be ready to go. Thanks for your ideas!

Update:
I recently took delivery of my new, GREEN, '09 Versys, and rode it home in just slightly below freezing temperature. And, although I had been worried about the stock seat being too soft, it so far seems to be just fine. As my first impression, I like this bike!

If you find you slide forward on the stock seat, remove it and heighten the attachment point at the rear of the gas tank with longer bolts, some washers, and a piece of metal to be the higher "bridge". Mine's up 9/16", and I've done a few 10 hour+ days.

I have owned my 09 Versys now for two days. I feel that I am sliding into the tank also. Butt checks burn in back trying to hold position. I am 6ft 3 and 235 lbs. 34 inch inseam. I believe I will try your bolt extension idea. Bike is still great.
