Default .5 turn signals

Somehow after installing a tall windscreen I have only left turn signals. I have gone back and checked the connector under the fiaring and traced the wire back to the main wire harness. All looks good. I pulled the connection apart and checked that the wires were making good contact and that the connector was firmly snapped together

I even removed the seat and side panels to make sure it wasn't the rear connection.

what would cause the right side turn signals to stop working (even the indicator)?

well- I guess since I only have about 4k miles on it I didn't think they would burn out that quickly. I will go and check and let you know.

I checked the bulbs on the right side and both seem to be good. No corrosion at the connections either.

There is a turn signal relay correct? Could it affect one side like that?

I really don't know much about the wiring and relays and such. But for sure check the simple things if you can. Like maybe the thumb switch.

Hopefully one of the eletrical guru's will post some suggestions.

Do you have one of the volt meter tester things?? You can test at various points along the circuit to see where you quit getting power.

If this is an '08/09 the turn signal relay is mounted underneath and forward of your speedometer unit. Remove the windshield and there are two relays. The most inboard relay is for the turn signals. Make sure it is plugged in completely but I don't think that is the problem since the left side is working. Try tapping on the relay while a turn is selected to make it work. That technique works on mechanical style relays sometimes. Mine doesn't make any noise when it flashes so it may not be mechanical. Could also be your switch. Does it work when you hold the switch to the right side? If so then the switch is not latching internally when you release it. Just guessing at this point.

The current goes from the ignition switch through the turn signal relay and then to the turn signal switch. The switch sends current to the left or right signal lights. Since the left side works, then you know all is good up to the switch.

The indicator light on the dash gets its ground by back feeding to ground through the bulbs on the side opposite the turn. Assuming every thing else is working, if the two right side bulbs were burned, the the indicator would not work on left turn, but would work on right turn by feeding through the good left bulbs. If the indicator works on left turn , but not on right turn, then the right bulbs are ok, but no current is getting through the turn switch on right turn. Open the switch and check it and it's wiring.
