Hey guys,
I have been posting for a while on here and most certainly using the site to gain info. about the KLR's. My name is Chris and I am 31, I live in Richmond, Va. I have owned motorcycles and three wheelers since I was 5 years old. I am a gearhead and went to Va. Tech and graduated in 1999 in Environmental Science and Engineering. I am a Systems Engineer by profession. I currently own 7 cars, 3 motorcycles and 2 SeaDoos so maintanence is def. in my vocabulary. If I could not or did not work on my own stuff, I would not be able to have all these things. Cars: 2006 Mazdaspeed6 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air WS-6 w/ hurst 6-speed 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 1994 Ford Taurus SHO / ATX 1992 Mazda Miata (NA) 1976 Buick Electra 225 Limited Motorcycles: 2006 KLR650 2003 Honda Superhawk 996 2002 Suzuki Intrusder Volusia SeaDoo's: 1997 Sea Doo GSX 1996 Sea Doo GSX Needless to say, I am always doing and fiddling with something. I had a 2000 KLR650 that was totaled in a recent non-fault accident so I picked up a local 2006 totally stock Kawasaki green with only 1,450 miles on it. I have added a luggage box on the back, crash bars and the water pump protector/engine guard with highway pegs and the oxford heaterz grips. I might add a few more things in time but it is nicely equipped now for what I do with it. ![]() |

HAHA! Knowing me it will......All of my stuff is shinned up and kept like new. I am sure it will get a little something on it from time to time but it will soon be washed. I just like nice things. The problem with the KLR is that it really is too high of a center of gravity and too high geared to be much offroad good....so it does fire-roads well and things where the going does not get real tough. I see things on the internet where people take these machines in conditions I cannot FATHOM being on a KLR in and seem to make it through, but I am sure they are rigged for it. I have played with sprocket gearing and such on my 2000 KLR but the thing is too big of a bike, too high and too heavy for me to have much interest in off-roading. I like it because it is comfortable, nicely powered and I can go places and if I need to go through a field or down a dirt road I can. If the going got too tough, I'd want a true dirt bike geared for it and made more for it. The KLR is an excellent compromise to light off road and on road utility IMO. |

TRUST me, I have no plans to. I value toys, my money and freedom much more so than a money sucking pain in the ass woman to irritate me in life. Forget it! LOL! |
