I'd like to have one of these or something similar, but I want it to take pics when I tell it to so I don't have to sort through dozens of pics I'm not interested in.
Anyone know of a way to remote the shutter of this or a similar camera to the handlebars? |

The little Go Pro has three modes:
Single picture when you press the shutter button. A pic every 10 seconds (approx.) when you first press the shutter button. A continuous (2 hr) movie when you press the shutter button.

O.K. Wymann,
Mounted it to the front fender and once again you are correct!!! It does excellent and I see no real vibration in the video. Yep I cleared the fairing. And yeah I still cant figure out that damn youtube thing either.!! I've tried and tried but sooner or later I will get it. it's probably gonna be a head slapper once I get it figured out!!! On this camera there is no way to do that. The camera is encased in a waterproof case, So there is no way to have wires coming from it.

No frills, it's very simple, that's why it's so darn small.

It has a 160 gig hard drive and is still working fine. I bounced that sucker over a lot of washboard roads and rocky trails like Hancock Pass in Colorado and the White Rim Trail in Utah. I do keep it in a waterproof bag for protection from all that poofy dust and in case I dump in a water crossing. |

Well, after reading all this about the GoPro, I though I'd tell what I did on mine. I have two of them mounted now. The 5mg Wide is mounted low on the right hand side to the SW Motech crash bars and the 5mg Standard lens mounts either to the rear Emgo tail box looking back or to my helmet mount looking forward. This camera used the standard AA 1000mHa rechargeable batteries. In the rear left side of the luggage rack on my Black '09 KLR I mounted a SW Motech accessory plug and it's wired directly to the battery. Always hot. I have a battery charger that I run to charge either the AAA's or the AA's while I'm running the bike. That way I got good freshly charged batteries most all the time.
All GoPro cameras use 2 AAA batteries, not 1 as stated in an earlier post. Presently I have a made up battery pack that powers the 5mg Wide camera that uses 2 AA batteries. The reason I made up a battery pack is that the 5mg Wide camera has the new 'patch' that allows usage of a 4gig card and gives just under 2 hours of movies. I don't use it to shoot stills. I wanted to be sure that I had enough power to do the whole card up and not run out of battery power. What I did on the Wide was to get a Radio Shack Battery holder. Normally it holds 8 AA's for a total voltage of 9V. But I only use 2 AA's in it at a time. I have it wired with a small Molex connector in the line so I can take the battery off line when the day is done. I drilled a small hole in the back of the case to pass the two wires through and also a small notch in the battery compartment lid. I soldered the + lead to where the + side of the AAA battery would have been and the - lead to the other. In doing this you don't use internal batteries. This mod gives you the same Voltage that the camera is designed for, but twice the battery life. The reason for doing this is this - The highest current AAA rechargeable batteries I could find were 1000mHa batteries. The highest current AA batteries I have are 2650mHa batteries. You can see that a pair of 2650mHa will long outlast a pair of 1000mHa batteries. I have used this on the past two trips on the Trans America Trail and can say from good experience that these cameras will take a beating and are waterproof. The case I drilled through is still waterproof as I put in a dab of GE Silicone there the wires pass through. When the 'patch' comes out later this month ( I Hope! ) for the Standard Lens 5mg GoPro, I plan on making up another external battery pack, but plan on using a AA size flashlight body that I'll keep in my jacket pocket. I thought using the flashlight body will allow me to turn the power on and off with the switch and be a neat installation. So they can be 'modded' just like out beloved KLR's... you just got to be creative a little. Ride safe and keep your lens clean

![]() I like what you've done with the battery issue. I would always have to remove mine, or it would be dead before the next use.
