Got 'em from *** (http://www.***********************/) Look in the KLR section under mirrors. You'll also need the dampeners that they sell. I love them, one of the best mods I've done. I don't get any vibration until I hit 70mph, and even then, it's manageable. The wider view also gets you a view of more than just your shoulders. IMHO, worth every cent of the appx. $65 I paid for the set-up. One note though...if you have a CeeBailey or other large windscreen, they may hit at full turn, especially if you have bar risers, like I do. I had to go back to the stock screen.

Edit:
I guess I can't say that name here, so PM me you're email address & I'll send you a link.

It is mounted on a fork brace (not a good one) that I think I got from Happy-Trail. I drilled & tapped it, mounted the fender, then mounted the brace/fender assembly. The hardest part was tapping the brace. All in all I'm happy with it, but I think it could be problematic in heavy mud. I don't really have to worry about that here though.

The panniers/racks are Al Jesse. I love the hell out of them, super-high quality gear, but they are NOT cheap. Here's a link: http://www.xplorermoto.com/o2klr650.html.

I hope this helps.

Garuda,

Thanks for the quick reply and info! Your bike looks really good (fenders, mirrors, and Jesse luggage system). From the photos I hadn't realized that they're Jesse panniers (nice color choice for the panniers too). I'm glad to hear that you're satisfied with their products. I will pay the price (for quality) and have them installed during the upcoming winter months. Sometime next spring/summer I'll get around to doing something with my front fender.

Once again, thank you for all the helpfull information.

Ed.

Aaronc,

I got it from Cyclegadgets, but you can also get it direct: http://www.glarestomper.com/gps_acce...-zumo-320.html

I like it, but after using in "storage" mode for a while, it kind of gets out of shape. It gets right again, it just takes a little while. For the price, though, (~$18) it's a pretty good deal.

Thanks, Ed. Like I said, I really like the Jesse's. One thing you need to be aware of though, is that you really need to pay a lot of attention to foot dabs. As has been mentioned here before, large hard side cases can be ankle/shin busters. Ted Simon, and another rider I was following on ADV, both incurred significant fractures during RTW trips with these bags. I love them for commuting & camping, and I DO ride off-road with them, but there is a certain amount of extra risk involved when riding off-road with large hard cases. I personally haven't had any injuries related to this, but I have experienced a couple of incidents in sand where I could definitely see that there is some definite potential for injury.

I don't want to discourage you (or anyone) else from getting them, they are a great product, but I think it's important that you go into the purchase educated. It's really a serious investment, especially considering the generally frugal nature of KLR riders, and it's better that you be aware of both the pros & cons when considering an investment like this. Just remember, if you decide to get them, watch where you put your feet!

Keep the sticky side down!

That's the primary reason I decided to start wearing full-length motocross boots for all of my off-road rides. Don't know it that would prevent or even mitigate injuries, but I feel like it must help somewhat.

I'm with you there AZDean! I splurged on a pair of Vendramini Desert Alp Elephants when I got back from Afghanistan, and I really feel protected. I'm not sure if they would be sufficient if the bike fell on an ankle, especially the edge of a hard box, but it would surely be better than crappy boots or no boots at all.

I'm so used to the feeling of protection now that on the rare occasion when I wear my old Army desert boots, say, to the store, I feel like I might as well be wearing sandals. It's really uncomfortable. That's why 99.99% of the time I wearing ATGATT. It's just the only thing that feels right.

Noob Hijack:
I've never posted a picture yet.
What's the best way? smugmug, flickr or what?
I don't want any thumbnails; like the bigger photos.
There's some dandies being posted here... thought I'd ask the experts.
Noob Hijack over.

any photo hosting site will work.

i use smugmug because it gives me code for different sized pics, i'm not sure if other photo hosting sites do that.
