I have wondered why we can't power them off of the bikes power fuse block, extra block that is. That is regulated down to whatever the correct voltage is.
Having to constantly be buying frigg'in batteries is what stopped me buying this little camera. It is almost perfect if you can also add a either remote switch for single pics or a external switch to do the same. Yep..I ask alot...but I see no reason one of our electrical wizzes can't figure the voltage issues out for us....but not having the camera in my sweaty hands I can't comment on the remote switch issue.
Just came across this on ebay-
Switching regulator power adaptor

This looks like it should fill the bill for you- Run right off your bike's power and provide the power to your battery operated device all day. For under $10 it's done.

Wingerr, Thanks for taking the time to search that out for us. I just ordered one and will make a post here when I get it installed an checked out. If it works, I'll order more of them as I have two camera positions on the KLR and one on the Nomad 1600 and one on the Goldwing.

But you could probably put in a connector on the input side and output side so you could change from bike to bike and also the camera... we'll see.

Now that I'm about getting all this worked out for the 5mg GoPro's here they come with the HD version and I'm gonna have to have one of those also. Never stops does it?

Just make sure you adjust the output for the voltage you need before hooking it up to your camera- I'm not sure what their default voltage setting is, so be sure to check it with your DMM first.
I'd just add connectors like you said, so it can just be moved around as necessary. It's small enough that it should be easily portable.

You'll just want to get a small box to put it in, should be easy enough to find something to fit, maybe like an altoids tin or something.

OK, I pulled the trigger on the Go Pro Hero "HD" Motorsports package camera which is the high def version of this camera. It came with the rechargeable battery and a free 4 gb flash card from helmetcameracentral.com . $299 or there abouts for the price. Navythomas maybe you can help me...I get perfect playback when I play directly to my tv through the patch cords but when I download to the computer and playback I get a regular "blip" in the video/audio signal every few seconds in a pattern on all the test vids I have shot. Support from the seller suggested downloading VLC media player and XviD codec which are free downloads. I did this and even with playback on these I get the same problem. I am not a techno guru so please understand I may be overlooking something basic. I run a Dell Inspiron 530 with Windows Vista so there really should not be any issue with the ability of my PC. I noticed that it asks me if I want to "sync" the device.....the Boss (wife) says no need to do this..........HELP! I obviously am not doing something right. I'll ask about uploading to Facebook or You tube next.

Nice video, pic quality was very good! Little short on action and could have used a bikini clad spokes model (NO, not a bikini on the same person, but a different person with a bikini) .

I'm on a mac, so I can't help you on software recommendations. I can't help you with the spokes model either. Sorry.

How are you planning to mount your camera on the bike? Someone else recommended the front fender. Once again Great pic quality from that camera.

Are you trying to run it directly from the card? if so your usb connection may not be able to feed the data fast enough. Or did you copy the video to the hard drive first?

Try to insert the card directly onto your PC, or copy the data to your hard drive, it happened something similar to me from a camera with a HD 8 gb Card

I am able to save the vid to the C drive but when I attempt to access it through Windows media it just does not recognize the file as being there. I can play the file on VLC player or Quicktime but Windows doesn't even see it. At this point I have downloaded my first short video to You Tube, I just want to be able to edit, cut, add titles, music, etc. to my ride videos at Tour de Apalachicola after I go next week. At this point I feel comfortable about the function of the camera, I think it is a Mac based format though and I haven't found the trick to get Windows to recognize the file.

Here is my 1st downloaded video...Nothing fancy just a test, this was on resolution 3 setting with 5 the highest;.

Hmmm,, I have not experienced this since owning mine..... so I will go thru how I do mine. I have window7. first off I downloaded windows moviemaker 2.6 which doesnt have anything to do with playback until I use it for editing. Lets see I take the sd card out of the camera and insert it into the computer. When it opens the window, i choose explore files then go to the dcm file. then i think its go pro then double click (left) on each item. when finding the tracks I go thru the dcm file. when i double click on each track it is played back thru windows media player. I dont have the hd version yet. hope this helps. I havent tried playback on the tv yet. matter of fact I havvent even used the syupplied cords. Sorry I cant be of more help. I did experience colr tracking on my $40.00 cheapo camera. and That alone pushed me to the decision to go gopro. try the go pro website and see if there is any downloads to update the camera also. I seem to be experienceing some difficulty upgrading my camera to accept 4G cards. But havent spent alot of time doing it. Let me know! Mine has never asked to sync. If you are doing what I have mentioned above you might just try the sync. I tmay help. you got nothing to lose trying it it cant hurt your cammera as there are steps you have to go thru to change the firmware. I am very impressed with that HD quality.!! Wish I would have waited that is just crystal clear.

I'm at that age where if I can NOT get any uglier, I'm happy, so I feel your pain here.

Yeah, the editing part is some of the most important. Nothing like watching 10 minutes of somebody riding a dirt road - its exciting to do, but boring to watch. Today, most everyone is used to watching 30 seconds with only the highlights. If you had a Mac, iMovie works really well, but I don't know what software you need to buy on the PC side.

Hey go pro guys,
I am interested in doing the every 5 second still shot. On long road rides I'm always seeing the hey thats neat I'll take a picture......well if I stopped every time I see one of those I would never get where I'm going! How long does it take to fill the card in snap a pic mode?
Then can't you do a slide show of your ride?
Thanks
