Default KLR seat

Hey y'alls,
I'm looking at buying a used custom seat from a 2006 but it's on the other side of the country. Would that fit on my 2008? The owner didn't know.

thanks

2008+ seats have an extra tab on the front that is designed to keep the front edge from lifting up. I have a friend with an older KLR and we put his seat on my '09, just to see if it worked. It went on, but was not as stable or "locked in place" due to the slightly different anchoring system in the front.

hmmm, good to know.
Do you think that is something that could easily be mod'ed to make it more secure?

If you pop your stock seat off, you will see what the other fellow is talking about- you might be able to form one out of something, dunno.

Myself, I went with a Sargent seat, love it.

Got the standard hieght one, but it's way wider. Feels like I am riding someone else's bike.
