Hey guys and gals.. I have been a member on here for quite some time.. and I have an 08 KLR but looking at getting 09 Versys from a local dealer here in Houston for more 2 up riding and road blasting...
The dealer here is selling me an 2009 in green for $5800.00 OTD is that a good price on a left over.. I am not entirely familiar with the versys but what research I have done it looks like a bike that will fit my needs for the 2up around town riding and some weekend jaunts in the country with the misses.. opinions would be great.. thanks Josh

For the type of riding you plan on doing, the Versys should be a great fit. That said, if you can take a test ride on the bike...even around the parking lot...do so, as you have to be sure you can be comfortable on it. The seating position is a bit more cramped than the KLR (especially the seat-to-peg distance). Depending on your inseam, it might be a good fit anyways, or you might have to get a few farkles to make it yours (lowering blocks, etc). Since you are planning to do a lot of 2-up riding, having the missus along would be a good idea. Even if you love the bike, it's won't work for you if she's not comfortable as well.
And if you are used to a KLR, twisting the throttle will be a bit of an eye opener. ![]() Good luck! Dave C

I just paid 6500 otd but I am in ca. It seems there is a pretty large difference in price depending on which state you are buying in.
I think the versys will be fine for 2 up riding. I would recommend looking into a top case with a backrest for the passenger. The suzuki dl650 is another good option but the price difference really made the decision for me. They were giving no discounts on the dl650 as suzuki decided not to make a 2010 model year. |

yea thanks for the replys.. haven't picked upa versys yet.. the stealership tried a whole bait and switch... after advertising and telling me an OTD price.. it was only good for that day.. now they want msrp for them..
so I did look at the wee.. but was thinking that maybe a larger displacement bike like the 1250 bandit from suzuki or the vee would be a bit better to go.. since I will be keeping the KLR.. not worried about the wrist twist.. considering I have ridden more powerful bikes then anything I am looking at..
