Hi, i'm back on the back after 20 years off and bought a 06 KLR (with less that 4K miles). The bike is solid but I'm having some carb issues. When shifting it doesn't want to decelerate and actually surges a bit at times? It also doesn't want to idle consistently at times. I'm primed to rebuild it unless there may be an easier fix.
Any suggestions would be appreciated? |

Personally I would rebuild just to clean it up a bit. But .....while in there I would do either the 22 cent mod or KLX needle swap and drill the slide. Also....if it hasn't been done yet, turn out the pilot screw to 2 1/4 turns.

Crap in the throttle assembly? cables needing lubing?
Def do the carb mods - the slide drilling makes a huge difference. |
