I found an 07 klx250s for $1800,it has 16k street miles on it,plastic is faded some but it runs good and its pretty clean.
So would ya say its a decent deal,Id like to hear thoughts of some klx owners |

If it fits your riding requirements, and is in good shape (to me, plastic is of NO IMPORTANCE when determining if the bike is in good shape or not), 1800 isn't bad.

I have been thinking about a KLX 250 too. I like my KLR but it is too heavy, for me, on single track so I am thinking about a second bike. I noticed that a few dealers in my area are listing new 2009's for $3500. This seems like it is too good to pass up. Should I grab a new one quick or does this mean I can buy a used one cheaper in few months?

The KLX250 will never be a race-bike, but, it handles a dual-sport role fine, unless you need to go more than 60 mph into the wind or uphill. I fixed that problem with a Big-bore 331 kit (Bill Blue makes these kits up to 351cc), jetting, and an aftermarket pipe. Now it will run more than 70 mph uphill AND into the wind! That's another 750.00. So, for around 4500.00 (or less, if you buy one cheaper than 3000.00) you can have a surprisingly capable Dual-sport. The KLR is much more of a work-horse and highway-capable bike, but, I have room for both in my riding styles. It's funny that having the KLX so that I can do single-track goat trails through the desert easier than on the KLR, the KLX makes me appreciate the KLR even more than I did before! The KLR is really a fantastic all-rounder...it's the ONE bike I'd keep if I had to go to only one. (Also have a CB919).

The 06/07 are the bikes that kawaski basicaly took form the klx 300r the suspension is taller and more mod friendly than the newer bikes . I have riden both styles and think that the newer bikes lack something over the 06/07 bikes. I chose an 06 as my base platform and have never looked back. I have put about 2000 into the bike to realy make it work . the sky is the limit with these bikes more power is a bolt on proposition .suspension swaps are out there for the industrious biker.lots of goodies on the aftermarket parts lists. While not a ktm killer by any means. alot of ktm and husaberg riders have commented of how well rounded a bike the moded klx is.
1800 is a steel of a deal and plastics are cheep. Also plastics renew is a wonderful product that makes plastic like new.if you care about those things. I realy dont notice the plastics while Im riding.
