Default Drain plug oil leak (crack)

Greetings, I got a 2008 KLR . While on vacation in Idaho ( I live in Illinois) I had the oil changed. The mechanic could not get the drain plug loose and was cranking hard on the wrench (I was watching). He called over his 85 year old dad who walked over to him and got it free and said......"you were going the wrong way"..... the next day I noticed an oil leak, took it back and said "I think you screwed this up yesterday". He tried a washer as he said one was not on it...the next day oil leak (bought size of a quarter) on ground..so I took it in and he tried a cooper crush washer and some goup...next day oil leak.... so I went back and he said I would have to make an appointment so he could really look at it. Well I had to head back home so I reluctantly left Idaho without getting him to fix it....
So now I still have this damn leak....in about a three day span leak on ground is bout the size of the diameter of the top of a coffee cup. I been trying different washers, tried some pipe tape and still have a leak....the pipe thread tape worked to slow it down some... So today I swing by kawasauki dealer and mechanic gets down there and tells me I have a small crack right off drain plug hole. Since a helacoil will not work is there anything that might work on crack, like jbweld?......this really "bums" me out...If I have to get part of engine replaced would it be entire lower case(s) ?...

lay the bike on its side and take a VERY focused picture of the "crack" and post here...

i would NOT have left...now you own the crack...

it maybe only stripped threads if the plug was over tightened....stripped threads can be repaired with a HeliCoil....BUT it takes practice and a steady hand to properly drill out the threads...

there are o-ring sealing washers....Chuck B gets his from GM...i get mine from McMaster.com/#

good luck...

In theory, JB weld can help.
In practice, it is best to take a "very focused picture" of the crack.
You can also drain the oil, and take one with the plug removed.
I would not ride the bike now, because once the engine heats up, there is no way to know how much more or less oil will leak out (likely more) when running it, so the amount of oil which had leaked out while it's been sitting is NOT indicative of the amount of oil which will leak when you ride.

Disconnect the battery before you drain the oil, so you don't have a brain fart and start it with it drained...

Awaiting those pics, so further solutions can be explored.

So sorry this happened...

I have drained the oil out several times since this happened trying to fiqure out different washers, tape, etc..... I can say that when I drain the oil, I have not been losing all that much ......and I have been riding it....
