Default For You Guys w/ Pipe Questions....

Glenn, could i get a sticky on this please....thanks amigo...

this is my attempt to put together some info for you guys tryin to decide on a pipe for your KLR. i personally have delt w/ the FMF Powercore IV and the White Bros E-Series pipe. Both are great pipes, the FMF is more of a top end pipe outa the box, while the E-Series is more of a low end pipe w/ lots of grunt on bottom. Both sound TOUGH, but are a bit loud, the FMF is an open, throaty sounding pipe, the E-Series is a more "paper ripping" raspy sounding pipe. some of these pipes are kinda elusive, and its only based on "hear say" that i even know the MAKE a pipe for the KLR...so any additional info would be appreciated fellas!!!here are some links to various pipes, if you are looking to pipe your bike....start here!! enjoy! (I'll add more as i run across it!)

Mawonline has the Supertrapp for about $170 but they can be a pain to deal with.

I thought I'd post in this thread too but I did start one for this site that I found.
http://www.gopartsdirect.com/dirt/it...&Placeholder=0

The part number is WB613-6600 for the racing series. (the one I'm looking at).

this number matches with the stock number for that pipe at www.supertrapp.com minus the WB, which must be exclusive for that website.

Has anyone had any experience dealing with this company?

It's a great price at $172.16

SuprXnTxn,
Nice looking pipe
Can you tell me if it needs re-packing? I like the Laser for the fact that it doesn't need repacking - but the price (for Laser) is almost double...

i'm sure eventually it'll need repacking, but as to how often, i'm not too sure just yet. i'm real happy w/ the pipe...i think you guys would be too. i believe they also make a head pipe, i will probably get that later on down the line after my corbin seat and such.

Hey SuprXnTxn, the pipe looks nice. You might want to move the license plate up a little if you want it to still be there after any suspension compression... They can be easily moved up by using the bottom holes of the plate instead of the top holes.

yeah, i looked at it when i was home, i either have a diff. plate frame than most of yall...or....LOL. it's going to take a little rigging to mount the plate any other way than its mounted now..and i just didnt feel like messing w/ it i'll eventually get around to it.

If you will ride off-road much, and especially if you will evet run a 14t countershaft sprocket, my advice is to relocate the bracket to the fender, just under the taillight, and remove the inner fender altogether. You can simply move the plate up on the inner fender, but sooner or later the tire will begin to attack it there. Better to move it now while the plate is still nice and straight.

yeah, i plan on doin it when my tag runs out....for now..the tag is on the license plate frame....when it expires, i'll move the plate and put the next tag on the swing arm, or the fender itself

hmm, AFAIK, in most states it's suposed to be afixed to the plate itself... if it was on the swing arm, i'd expect to be stopped for "no" tag in NV or CA... even the fender might be a bit iffy.

YMMV in TX, but *i* don't see any resason to invite the supertroopers attention!

most of the time the sticker is just below the plate, but i have seen them on swing arms, on fenders, etc.

In TX, we have 2 stickers, one, the license plate "tab", small sticker for month/year that goes right on the plate... the other sticker is a state safety inspection sticker, about 2"x3" that usually gets mounted on a small thin metal plate mounted under and sticking out from behind the license plate. This is what hooked the tire on mine and mangled the plate. I relocated the whole assembly upward and have had no further problems.

On the Ratbike I own w/ my brother, I shortened the inner fender and moved the plate up under the tail/stop light.

Here is a picture that shows my phenomenal skill with a hacksaw and drill. No tickets, and have had it plated in both CA and AZ.
