The feeling has finally come back into my fingers from the ride we did after our wrench turning, so I thought I'd post a few pics, stats and results.
Overall, we did: 1. Four subframe upgrades, one with the 3 bolt, 3 with the 4 bolt. 2. Four T-mods 3. One pilot screw adjustment (FYI - it was just 3/4 turns out from the factory). 4. Installed one new set of handguards. Afterward, we ventured out into the cold for a short ride over to Horseshoe Bend for lunch. It was a balmy 28 degrees outside, which made the ride seem like 50 miles instead of 25. We were called crazy, brave, stupid and just plain nuts (and that was just among ourselves!). It was a bit brisk, and we had to cut out a bit of the ride due to a sizeable stretch of ice packed road, but overall, I think a good time was had by all. Just getting started. Joe's bike stripped down, ready for the drill. Notice you can see Sam's breath - that should give you an idea of what the temps were like today. ![]() Bikes lined up waiting for a turn in the garage - but first, a donut! ![]() Before we do this..... ![]() Maybe we should do a bit of this (Joe's the smart one in the bunch). Notice the blood on the knuckle too. ![]() Barbi is inside now too. Lyndon had a great set of drill bits - that entire case is full of multiples of around 15 different sizes of drill bits. ![]() Putting the finishing touches on Joe's new hand guards ![]() Close look at the T-mod (or Y-mod?) in place. Joe is now known as "Captain T-Mod". By the time we did the last bike, he had it down to about 5 minutes or less to install. ![]() Here's where we ran the new tubing. ![]() Done, complete with new hand guards. ![]() Barbi going back together. ![]() Sam just starting on Gumby. ![]() Need a new avatar Sam? ![]() We had planned to do the swing arm lube today too, but this is about as close as we got. Just too cold to get excited about it. ![]() Anyway, chime in Idaho guys. There were a lot of other photos taken but these are some of the better ones I got. There are more on photos.klr650.net if you're interested.
