For a weekender, what do you carry with you?? What suggestions do you have for a "tool" kit??? tubes, compressor, etc?????
I am trying to figure out how much storage I need. I just bought a Pelican 1520 I was going to use for a trunk. |

The bag is from actiongear.com and fits in the stock Kawasaki luggage just fine.

I can help with those........I have over 300 of them for sale......$4.50 each, shipped to your door in the USA. Wish I had spare clutch levers, but do not. Cheap insurance in case you dump your scooter away from home!!

I carry a tool kit with ratchet and sockets, allen wrench kit, adjustable wrench, vice grips (mini size, one regular, one needle nose), loctite, quicksteel, electrical tape, a small assortment of zip ties, a small length of clear tubing (1/4"?...whatever fits on the carb vent), screwdriver with tip assortment, a couple hose clamps, spare fuses, knife, flashlight, spare inner tubes, 12v compressor, patch kit, 2 tire irons, tire gauge, a little talcum powder, some emery cloth, various bungee cords, and a length of rope. It all fits inside a small "widemouth" cordura toolbag, which I carry inside my JC Whitney topcase.
I also carry the stock tool kit, and a small wood block to put under the kickstand, and there are probably a few more items I can't think of at the moment.

Wow, and I thought I carried a lot of stuff.
I carry tire repair items in my trusty tool tube. I have a the stock tool kit, a leatherman, a couple of fuses, some kleenex (wipes either end and not embarrassing), spotting scope (cause Minnestoa is beautiful) new testament

A first aid kit is a good idea.
I started with this: http://tinyurl.com/yhsch9 and added a few other things for common bike injuries: An ACE elastic bandage for sprains, small spray container of Bactine (anesthetic/antiseptic), small tube of sunblock, a mylar blanket (for treating shock), a couple of chemical heat packs; etc. For under $50, I can self-treat a whole range of minor- to medium injuries, or treat injuries to others too. (I have a pair of cheap disposable latex gloves in the event I have to come into contact with an unknown person's blood...) It all fits inside a large freezer bag. |

I like your bag. I looked up and down on ebay, rei, bicycle stores, aerostich etc for a courier type bag. I saw these military tool bags on ebay and went straight to the army/navy store. I ended up buying the more expensive ($17) one, but it has been very handy. I got sick and tired of carrying all my junk downstairs to my bike and putting it in my panniers. They also have a medical equipment "mag" bag that looks pretty handy too. It is essentially the same size.

Welcome aboard! Yup, those sure are military tool bags. On the carrier I was on you'd see guys walking around the ship all day with their tool bag, heading nowhere, avoiding work, avoiding the Chief. Anyway, those bags are heavy duty. All zipped up, I bet you could drop one at freeway speeds and nothing would fly out.
