Ok first the L-shaped cut-out.....my engine is stock and the carb is stock and the exhaust is stock.
I'm not planning to re-jet anytime soon....could i still benefit from the airbox mod? Does anyone notice more power/higher mpg or different sound with just the L-mod alone? My second question is: Is it a good idea to get one of those carb cleaning solvents, that you pour into the gas tank?

periodic use of fuel-additive carb cleaner can help keep things flowing.
if you haven't done any other mods, you probably don't need to do the L mod, but you could pull the rubber snorkel off the airbox.

Fixer's right. A stock bike will usually improve some from removing the snorkle, and it helps the "too rich" condition many stock bikes have on top end. And, it's easily reversed if the midrange gets a bit too lean, and you don't wish to do any carb mods.
The "L" mod is overkill on a stock bike, but some have reported it helps at higher elevations. Now, once you you start modifying, that's a differant story. Cary |
