Nice . Haven't had time to read your blog yet. Can you tell me whether getting servicing and/or parts for the KLR was a problem?

we actualy did not have any trouble to speak of.
we used up 6 tires during the trip, the 17" rear tires are hard to come by ,21" front no problem.
now that i come to think of it we had 2 mishaps both our own fault.
my doughter linda hit a giant pothole and dented both rims witch i straightened at the kawasaki dealer in guatamala city (good folks, let me use their hydr. press and helped me ,no charge!!)
i dropped her bike trying to enter a storage shed and broke the brakeleverbracket
we had it weldet at the kawi dealer in costa rica
and we had only one flat tire in the entire trip!!!!

ofcourse it is imperative you can do your own routine maintenace ,oilchange ,filter, tire change ect.
bring some of these washers for your oil drain ,nobody uses them!! and therefore they are not for sale

My hat is off to you sir. a proper trip indeed. Its good to know the KLR was up to it. I would be off today on that very same route if only I had the cash. I will be going that way once my buddy gets out of the navy. thats way too long to wait.

I did go on my KLR and yes I am very proud, some people ask me "is it better to have a sports bike?" yes it could be better but can you ride it for 15 hours? so far so good nobody can say yes, or better yet, can your R1 carry all my stuff?, no they CAN NOT

Here is a picture of us entering your Beatifull country.

before we left we had no time to buy cases so we endeed up with soft luggage with worked fine as well and was good when we dumped our bikes, witch will happen on a trip like that.
of course in cities you can lock your stuf for a short periot of time
as you can see on my signature i own a beemer too ,1200 gt,but i could not have done my trip with it
my klr is way better in the gravel and lighter for crossing streams ect.
