It's a strange process but it works great

If I were to camo anything I'd be dipping it. It's more expensive than paint but the patterns are exact and it's fairly durable.

I'm having my fork tubes done in a carbon fiber pattern. I can't wait to get them back and see the finished results

Jeepinbanditrider,
I was in 26 as well. Ordnance shop. Spent most of my time at MALS-12 though.

MALS-12?? The last time I was next to MALS-12 was with H&HS-OMD Iwakuni (Search and Rescue).

That was 1982-1983.

After that, it was all MAG-46 Tustin / El Toro / Miramar / Pendleton before I retired in 2004. Isn't BRAC wonderful?

Has anyone attempted a dessert tan camo or straight dessert tan pint on a second gen KLR?

Think I'm going to paint mine tan.
Black looks cool but the bed-liner method has been well used.

As I recall, there is also someone else in here that has done desert tan with black forks and trim. It also looks great!

Well, I would do mine dessert tan also. i did my truck with the Walmart flat tan Krylon. So far it holds up well on the body, but chips easily when rocks hit the grill or front bumper. If I were to do dessert tan, I would try to get the real stuff, not use the walmart can Krylon stuff. just my .02

Best thing about having a 2003,

never a thought about changing the colour.

Hard to go wrong with solid tan/khaki or OD in my opinion...
Heres my take on it...

My son was telling me last night that one of his Strret Racing Buddy's painted his street racing car camo.

They gave him a flack over the choice until the cops came to bust them one night and he just backed into some woods and turned off all his lights. The Patrol Car passed right by him chasing one of the other guys.
Apparently never saw him as he drive right past him.

Some nice camo jobs guys. I've been kicking around doing a Desert Tan on my Diesel KLR.
Haven't made up my mind yet.

You guys are a bad influence!
