My 2009.
Done a few mods since this photo, including fork brace and low fender mount, and new tires. Will update soon! Lots of riding, work and love! Much more to come... ![]()

I know a KLR is a "dirt" Bike , but when the temps get into the high 90's and low 100's I just don't feel like riding, so I clean my three month old 2012 KLR, which has over 3200 miles on her. She has even been on some dirt trails.
I'm retired so I've been getting up at 7am and go for a ride , have breakfast and get home before 10am when it starts to get really hot. I'm really enjoying my KLR. ![]() Going to my first tech session this Saturday to replace the Doohickey. My bike is running very smooth for a single, but replacing the DooHickey just seems like cheap insurance. ![]() |

That is one cool looking setup. Even like the low front fender with the knob tires. The color is cool too. I'd change the skid plate, though.

So far Ive only seen a little 2013 klr 650 info, Its looking like the same bike as the 08 with only a paint job, same everything as far as specs.no changes, and a hefty 6,500$
price increase. They are gonna leave it alone for another 22 years, while every other Brand offer vastly improved Bikes, even honda has a 700cc dual sport bike out now, BMW upgraded the 650gs to a 700cc machine, and we get A hashed over 08 bike for 2013,thats virtually identicle to the 08 bike, with only a paint job.Why is it such a crime for Kawasaki to stay with the same bike?why cant our favorite bike evolve with the rest of the bikes?,I was thinking about getting one,but now,Ill just look for a used bike untill Kawasaki gets with the program.Im still on my pre 08 model, and dont see much reason to buy a new one. Thanks a lot Kawasaki.

My 2011, purchased brand new in April. Just rolled over 6,000 miles with a 1500 mile "adventure" coming up next month. Love it. I still like the looks of the Gen 1, but this has been growing on me since I bought it. The '94 had 37,000 on it when I sold it.

As my brother says "scratch, I'll show you a scratch!"
I have a second set of ammo cans which are 40mm. They're smaller than the 20mm. I was getting ready to lube up the chain by propping it up on the can so that the rear wheel was off the ground. Well.... I'd just walked 15' into the garage to get the lube and was half way back when the bike slipped off of the can and fell directly on it. That was the only thing around it, so the tank took the full hit. Didn't scratch the can. ![]() Put a small dent in the frame there too. I turned it into insurance and have the appointment with the Kaw dealer to put the new tank on this Friday. You can't see it from the angle, but the dent matches the can and is directly on the bottom seam. Just lucky the seam didn't break. |
