Brian thanks. Received the valves yesterday and installed them today. Stock front springs and kept the spacers the same.

Incredible difference! I'm 220lbs. I have eagle mike lengthing links (stock rear shock set on #3 and rebound 1/2 way I think), acebris front fender, aftermarket smaller hand guards.

When I put the intiminators in it was a noticable significant improvement. I'm not getting near the amount of brake dive. On road it's way more planted. No more twitchy feeling. The amazing thing was a ten mile stretch of gravel I ride with constant wash board..Yesterday I could only get 30-35mph standing on the pegs. Today I ran the same stretch doing 50-55mph sitting down! That made a believer out of me..and a funny twist was my rear mirrors were more steady then on the road..lol.

Folks this made my KLR the bike to keep that's for sure..
Thanks again to everyone at Ricor Shocks and espically the KLR pricing!!

Default Re: 50% off Ricor Shocks INTIMINATORS

I just got back from a very enjoyable ride... the first since installing the Intiminators. Very well done Ricor!!!

Not once did I experience even one of the undesirable attributes of the stock-only front end. Brake dive, rigid feedback and undermining are nearly eliminated. The improvement in stability is unmistakeable. It felt as though I were on a different bike altogether... glued to the surfaces. I am amazed that this small component could affect the suspension so positively and profoundly.

Per my conversation with Brian, I took his advice and installed the Intiminators with stock springs and spacers. I also removed 5/8" from the spacers at his suggestion. Amsoil 5w was recommended and used. Installation was short and simple.

It was originally my intention to use Progressive springs and Motowizard preload adjusters. As things stand now, I cannot see either of those being required.

The Intiminators will transform your KLR into the machine you hoped you bought. Kawasaki would do well to include these as standard equipment.

If I ever find myself getting another KLR the Intiminators will be farkle #1.

Many thanks to Brian and the folks at Ricor for a product that delivers precisely what is advertised!

Cheers!

The sale was supposed to have ended a few months ago. I guess he's feeling the down economy or they were over priced to begin with.

Or, as stated in the original email, they have not been picked up by a distributor (which would certainly have rules against the wholesale pricing).

I recently installed Intiminators (would gladly have traded the indoor plumbing for them) and a Progressive shock, which I may soon regret if Ricor's new item is remotely as good as the Intiminators.

As my load-out varies based on provision requirements, I'd like to have the capability to easily change preload both fore and aft based upon load. Has anyone had any experience in using Intiminators with stock springs and Motowizard preload adjusters? I'd be grateful for any insight.

I did place an inquiry with Ricor but I can appreciate how busy they must be to take this item on.

Cheers!

The $298 msrp is the price the Intiminators would have to sell for if they went through all the markups getting them into the dealerships etc. The $149 is the official wholesale price. Until we hear that beeping noise from a distributor truck backing into our loading dock, we can sell them for the wholesale price on the internet.

Our internet sales are extremely low maintenance and it's good to have a direct connection with the end user.

Less front end dive in hard braking, along with better traction, so not only is handling improved, stopping distance will be shorter. If you ride off-road, much less jarring transmitted through the triple-tree, so your hands as well as the rest of the bike is less disturbed, as well as the chassis staying more steady. The "lurching" as you go over submerged obstacles is eliminated. Paved riding is super-smooth...it's smoother than my brand-new 2007 Honda CB900...smooth is less tiring.

Motorcyclists with twin rear shocks didn't know they had a handling issue until they rode the modern Monoshock design (used by the KLR, along with most modern bikes). BTW, the principal of RICOR has the patent for the Monoshock...I believe the date is 1974. He's been upgrading suspensions for a long time.

It's the 21st Century, this "floating" Inertia Valve System is state of the art suspension technology. I wonder if the settlers had this on the Conestoga wagons, if they'd have been less grumpy and wouldn't have been so ill-tempered to the Native Americans?

Now I know who to blame for me wasting my savings back in 1976 on a new Honda CR250R - It didn't have a monoshock and I couldn't keep up with the damn stinky Yamahas.

I hated the smell of Yamalube....Grrr.

You made me google Motorwizard to see what they were. As it appears to just provide an easy way to provide some adjustment to your preload settings, I can not see any reason why they would not work with our front fork IAS valves. Only issue I can see is that they have a way to verify the settings are the same for each side and I have to believe the manufacture addressed that in their instructions. This answer is only addressing the front forks.. I did not see (perhaps did not find) any such thing for the rear or something different than adjusting the rear shock spring. No personal experience with the product just an observation as to what it is and if it would affect the IAS valve.

I wasn't responsible for the original monoshock. The rising rate linkage ones are what Blackheart was referring to:

Hal-Ricor
Thanks for chiming in there Hal. Good call, they aren't really indexed for precise individual adjustment other than turning each one an equal number of times. As payload varies I would like to affect preload commensurate with it. I think detents or numerical indexing would be much better. There are rings to use for rough approximation. I'm currently thinking that scribing or silk screening a calibrated index on them might be the way to go, if I go with them.

As for the rear... I think like most other Intiminator lemmings in that I'll continue to be eager for that newfangeledthingamajig you have coming up the pike. You can put me down for one promptly as I could not be more sold on the Intiminators. While I'm on that... thank you! Really fine job you've done on those!!! You folks know your stuff very well indeed. Beyond wide margin they are the greatest improvement to my KLR.

I have been a rather enthusiast supporter of that product locally. In fact, I took a cue from Blackheart's postings and had offered my bike up as a comparison for a couple of fellow KLRites I ran into on the trail. So to speak... they were shocked.

I'll continue to look forward to the same "revelation" that Blackheart experienced when your new product is available.

Cheers!

I apologize for my inaccurate statement. I thought it was a patent of the monoshock design, rather than the linkage. The point is still the same, you've been designing suspension improvements for a long time!

Well, OK.

But I still hated the Monoshock™, and Yamalube™, and Suzuki, and Kawasaki sucked too. Never did like those hippie beatles but I can't wait for you new rear Ricor rear shock.

More possible names for your new product:

Shockinator
Shockzilla
Shockazulu
Shockdamonkey
Intimishock
Intiminator for-the-rear
