Default rear wheel bushing

Does anybody know if the spacer/collar/bushing in the rear rim is supposed to have any play in it?.This is the bushing between the sealed bearings that the axle slides thru.I can put my finger in there and move it up and down. This could be the source of some chatter I am xperiencing in the back;looking at the schematic it looks like one end of it is bell shaped so i would imagine it does not have to be solid it is about 4 inches long this bushing. Also is there a cheaper place to buy oem parts other than bike bandit their prices are outrageous!

a bit of play isnt a problem, when the axle is in there that spacer can't move. Of course i can't hear it from here but the sound is very possibly the bearing themselves. what do they feel like when u put your finger in them and move them around?

is this measurment a) side to side play, as in from one bearing throught he hub to the other or b) just that the spacer can shift up and down fornt and back, in relation to the wheel?

if it is a then you've got a problem, if it is b then dont worry about it. that spacer is tough and is not a consumable wear item. you're over thinking it.
