Default How long will the engine last

How many km/miles can you get on a KLR engine (on road) before it needs work done? I would like to get a used klr but the miles on them seem high and I put about 20,000km a season on my bike and would like to have it for a few years at least.

with proper maintenance, regular QUALITY oil changes, valve adjusts and with the proper EagleMike Doohickey and torsion spring....i would say you would be pretty safe at 60-80,000 kms...as long as you, like Watt-Man, ride it like you own it...

good thing is that it is an easy motor to repair should you have problems...as long as it does not burn oil the valves will last a long time too...

heck, my KLR has 38000 VERY hard miles (61000kms) and is running like a top....

Ok sounds good. I found one with 14000km on it a 2000 model which looks good. Is there a thread or article about what I should look for when inspecting it to buy?
