Resurrecting and old thread, I know, but I just found out about the Ride For Dad via an advert in one of the magazines.

I'd like to participate, but I am uncertain based on two points.

1 - I just earned my 6L late last July. Though I put some 3000km on my bike before freeze-up, that is the sum total of my motorcycle experience. Plus I've never ridden with a group. Not sure how friendly/accommodating of novices they are.

2 - Lots and lots of pictures on their facebook page of cruisers. I've encountered a bit of snobbery from the V-twin crowd in my riding about town (though just a bit, to be fair), so I am unsure of just how well received my big ugly* thumper will be.

* I never thought much of the looks of the KLR until I sat on one and took it down the road. Now I can't imagine not having one.
