Default Moving KLR from U.S. to Perth

Hello:

I'm moving to Perth and am looking for any advice on getting my U.S. KLR out there. Anybody have any experience with shipping a bike in?

I'm guessing that my U.S. driver's license with motorcycle endorsement will suffice? In theory, I'd like to bring my bike to Australia, convert it to KMs and sell it. I picked up my bike brand new last May for $4500 USD. It has only 2000 miles on it (about 3200 kms). I'd hate to have to shell out $8,000 plus for one in Australia, since the currencies are now at parity.

I'm also surprised at how uncommon KLRs are out there. It seems like the perfect bike for Australia--maybe I'm missing something.

Hi
the process is a little diffrent depending on your visa status ie a temp visitor or someone migrating.

If your migrating you may want to check out
https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa...ia_2.aspx#five
and also ckeck out the DOTAR website.

sometimes its worth spending the extra $$$ and engauge the services of a shipping agent

pretty sure you haven't owned it long enough. also you wouldn't be able to sell it as it does not comply with ADR.....

check out the site above for more info.
