Default brightness issue with TomTom Rider

Good morning all,

I've been riding with a TomTom Rider for a number of years and been very frustrated with how dim it is. I tried the shroud without any real improvement. Brightness is set to 100%.

Last week I get this Zumo in a package deal and I can't believe how much brighter it is.

Question: anyone have experience with this on a TomTom? If so, how'd you deal with it? Suggestions?

Pic attached for evidence. The TomTom in center (it's even shaded a bit and still can't be read...)

Thanks.
