Default Fix or Replace KLR 250 Spark Arrestor

I know this has been covered in older threads, but I have not found any solutions to my problem.

My daughter, Rosie, rides a 2005 KLR 250; I ride a 1985 that I have rebuilt (all but the engine). On a 2-day 400 mile ride and camping trip, Rosie noticed the "baffle-pipe muffler" fall out of my muffler/exhaust pipe. At the time she didn't know what it was. She thought it was something on the road that my bike kicked up. When we realized what had happened we were long gone from the farm field it bounced into.

Next year, Rosie and I will be riding the Lewis and Clark Trail and I need a muffler with a USFS-approved spark arrestor. I understand that the baffle I lost (it's part number is #49099-1219 on Bike Bandit) is separate from the arrestor, but without it the spark arrestor doesn't meet USFS standards.

If I could find a used #49099-1219 I would happily buy it and replace it. I don't need the whole muffler/exhaust -- I have a 1990 parts bike with a muffler/exhaust that is also missing the baffle.

Bike Bandit wants $70 for a new #49099-1219. I might as well put that $70 toward a new muffler. Is there is a good, aftermarket/OEM alternative (I'm not looking for power or noise)?

One online reviewer said this: "Though the FMF Turbine Core 2 Universal Spark Arrestor is listed as a 2 stroke spark arrestor, it's not a secret among the small displacement 4 stroke riders that it works great on these bikes also. It sounds awesome, opens up the breathing tremendously, mounts easily and saves a bunch of weight from the stock muffler. Most importantly, it's USFS Approved. A steal for the money."

Has anybody else heard this? Other forum commenters say 2-stroke and 4-stroke mufflers have different functions and it's unwise to mix them.

What are my options for an aftermarket replacement muffler?

Or has anyone created some end cap that minimizes spark release and at least directs soot and heat away from my back fender?

I have a mufffler with the baffle still in it if you want it... give me $10 and pay for the shipping.. I will send it to you.. The muffler I use now does not have a spark arrester on it.. I believe the Big Gun exhaust systems do have it but that's a $500 exhaust system

Great!!

That's the solution I was hoping for!

Let me know the details -- how to send you my address, how to send you the money. I have wired money through Walmart before, it you want to do that.
