Default Will my engine rev up with out an exhaust header on it?

Hey guys,

Does any know if my engine should be running well with the header off, and just the carb on it, not connected to air box.

Putting a bike together, dont have all the parts. While testing w/o the header or the air box on, the engine bogs after 2500/3k rpm (and is loud AF).

Thanks guys

It will run but not well and not very good for it. A four stroke needs exhaust back pressure, and the carb without an airbox can give you a lean out condition so I wouldn't run it much without either in place.

Ok thanks,

Will the header pipe alone provide enough back pressure to run her?

I just want to make sure the engine is running well, then that motor is being sent to newfoundland to replace the blown motor in my bike there.

Yes, for a short run but will not run great without backfire. It should let you know if it will run well I think.

Found a header pipe and muffler.

The bike is running like a champ, the tach didnt seem to be counting revs properly, but im hoping its due to not having a battery in her.

The lack of a tachometer reading due to lack of a battery is likely the cause as you mention. Erratic or no tachometer reading is an early symptom of a battery problem or blown main fuse on the KLR250.
