Default SgtMarty Colorado KLR tech day Sept 9, 2017

Aiming for September 9, 2017, for the next Colorado KLR650 TechDay at my place. Details on SgtMarty dot com.

I'll update the "who's bringing what" list on that site as well, so let me know if you're bringing food, drink, parts, etc.

If we have a small turnout, maybe I'll volunteer my KLR to be worked on :-)

Planning to be there as well and hope to get as much done as possible.
Will look forward to meeting some other KLR riders and seeing well sorted bikes?
Hoping to do the doohickey and check valves. Bringing two each of the shims listed on Marty's page to add to the pool.
I should also have an Eagle Mike KLX kit if there is enough time.
I can bring beverages as well, could use suggestions on what people want.... Water, beer....both?

We have water and coffee/tea, so juice or sodas or beer would be best. Any beer other than Coors and Bud would be my suggestion. (those aren't beers--they are advertising campaigns)

Someone is bringing breakfast burritos, so some other snacks might be good if anyone is bringing something.

Quick note -

Anyone who's come to one of our tech days in the past knows to watch out for deer. This time, you might also need to watch out for bicyclists. The American Diabetes Tour De Cure ride is this Saturday, and the roads around here are part of the 100 mile and 100K routes. No idea how much activity there might be, but I figured I'd mention it.

I'm bringing my EM Doo w/torsion spring. Eager to see what lurks behind my rotor after 4K miles.

Anyone have a stock silencer they might part with? Not sure I like the Supertrapp ids2 that's on my bike.. A little loud for me.

I bought some parts at RMATV and got it there since I had free shipping. Otherwise I'd have just ordered it from Eagle Mike. I just ordered more stuff from Mike and he is super fast and helpful.

I used to keep a couple extra doohickeys and torsion springs here just in case, but I think they're gone now. If this was a couple days earlier, you could have ordered parts from EagleMike and he would have sent them straight to my house, but it's too late now.

We have breakfast burritos and a bag of ice coming. Could use a second big bag of ice and whatever other snacks people want. Haven't had a firm commitment to bring beer yet, but someone probably will.

Watch out for deer in the neighborhood and bicycles out on the outer roads.

I think we have at least a couple doo jobs getting done, and at least one valve check. Other misc work as well. My wife's KLR needs the rear brake bled out, so I think Mark Odett is helping her with that. She might need a rebuild of that hydraulic cylinder if the bleed job doesn't hold (again). That will have to wait if it needs a rebuild.

I'll bring some cheeses and summer sausage to the fiesta, someone's gotta add some sophistication to this shindig.
I'm close to Total beverage, so I'll also pick up some real beer, like a nice smoked porter.

Understood and thanks, I just yesterday clicked this link as im new to this bike and forum.
This seems like a helpful community and I'll enjoy being part of it.So I'll learn and lend a hand to those who could use it.I see a fair share of KLR in woodland and the surrounding area.

Got a lot done to a few bikes. Caught a couple "uh-oh" issues on some bikes, but got one fixed up, one will need a new swingarm, and the other one will need a whole new day to get sorted out.

The weather was great, the food and beverages were good, the company was good, so I'm calling it a success.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Marty and LaurieD for hosting this at their home in such a beautiful location!
Also big thanks to Alan for patiently helping me with my stuck doohickey and showing me the difference between metric and SAE feeler gages when doing the valve check.
Was going to put in the 22cent mod and discovered that the KLX needle is already installed.
My bike definitely needed a little TLC. It's not alway fun to hear "never seen this before...."
It was great meeting all of those that showed up!

I took the bike out for a ride yesterday and can hear the difference!
