Hey Steve, welcome to the site...

Since your question isn't a Versys specific question, I'm going to move you on up to an area where your question can be seen and (hopefully) answered.

The quick answer is: Anything is better than nothing!

What? You want a longer answer?

Ok, well, I guess...

Truth is, there's as many different jackets as there are riders. The question answers itself once you start adding details regarding what you're looking for... the more specific the details, the narrower the selection becomes.

If you're just looking to browse, there's a few sites you can look at.

https://www.Sponsor_placement_here/

https://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/

https://www.revzilla.com/adv-sport-touring-gear

Those will give you a wide range of selections. Without any further information, finding the right jacket for you will be a bit more difficult...

So what kind of riding do you want it for?

How many seasons does it need to cover?

Are you wearing armor underneath? Or is this going to be your primary source of armor?

What's your ballpark budget?

Same goes for the boots. The more details, the more detailed the responses will be.

Ok, enough of me blathering on, let's get this moved.

Bookmark MotorcycleGear.com and check them often. They often have some very good riding gear on closeout at very good prices.

Cycle Gear sells the Sedici Arturo which is a very nice hot weather jacket/pants combo. Living in Phoenix, heat is obviously a very important issue to me. I am a big guy (6'4" tall, 270 lb) and a 3XL in this jacket fits me very comfortably. I am able to wear my Icon Field Armor under it when engaging in more adventurous riding. The Icon Field Armor is fantastic by the way. Very protective and low profile.

It is the only Sedici jacket I own, but the quality and workmanship are very good, especially for the $150 price. Here is a pick of me in both the Field Armor and the Sedici jacket. I have since purchased better boots (Sidi Adventure) and riding pants (need to get an updated pic).
