So, what could a 1000 Versys do better than the 650 Versys, other than to get speeding tickets?
Well, I've been drooling over the Z-1000 for years till I sat on one at the dealer. I have a bad knee & as sexy as the Z-1000 is, it is sadly not in my future. A 1000 Versys would fit quite nicely but, I'll probably go with the 650 for $$$ reasons as well as the fact that I'm a stickler over gas mileage. Never say never though because I could easily see the 1000 Versys sitting next to my KLR if the planets line up just right.

The 650 Versys is priced right, and gets respectable gas mileage. I am with you on those points.

Just what could justify almost 2x the money for a 1000 Versys is beyond me.

The 650 Versys does just about everything I need a street bike to do.

Bigger cc's are not directly propotional to the "wow" factor.

I think it looks like a cartoon caricature from the angry bird game.

But I'd still like to have one!

Having had a 1985 Honda Interceptor I can certainly agree with you. Nothing like hearing it too, that roar is something you never forget, specially breathing through a set of Kerker cans!

Some guys have the money to blow on bigger & better toys. For someone on a budget like me, the 650 is the better bike.

Of course there's more to motorcycleing than G-force but, every biker should ride a liter class in line four at red line at least once in their life. Life really does begin at 120.

Actually the KLR 650 does EVERYTHING I need a street bike to do but, a 650 Versys would do it better & I want one.

I just like going places and the Versys is exceptionally good at doing just that, and it can be outfitted with top and saddle bags, to go even further distances.

But while the Versys could easily handle a smooth, dry, dirt/gravel road, I do not recommend it as an off-road "dirt" bike. It was designed to be on pavement.
