What all would I need for changing my front sprocket to a 17 tooth? I have a 16 tooth right now and am fine with it but I would like something a little bigger for a few long rides I'm going on. I have a 14 tooth to swap it out with also.

With the 17t, the chain will require more clearance from the guard up front. If you pull it, you should see where your 16t has paved the way.

You can either help it out with a dremel, or steel chain vs plastic sorta settles the affair all by itself.

If you don't WANT to carve your guard, or have it be carved anymore... you can always go with a 42t rear. That's about a 16.5 or so.

The downside, is that you'll have a 14.5 at the trail head...

I'm all about options, and sometimes some aren't as good as others.
