All my bikes are named.

I donned my KLR "Dusty" because Colorado doesn't get much rain.

I called my '07 "The Pack Goat". This is in part due to the amiable nature of my bike and also due to the incredible carrying capacity of the bike (the Cogent Dynamics suspension upgrade helped with that).

I got the idea from one of my favorite PBS show called "The Desert Speaks" starring David Yetman, a professor from the University of Arizona. In my favorite show he traveled to the badlands of SW Wyoming to go on a goat packing trip. It is a very relaxed way to travel in the back country. Each person is assigned to a goat who take charges of them for the duration of the trip. The head she goat is responsible for the route you take and when you stop. You essentially become a junior member of the herd.

The show made a very positive impression on me.

Here is the outfit.

Speaking of alternate meanings of the initials KLR. After James broke his leg at the 5th Annual Northern AZ ride, the subject of a more descriptive name for the ride came up. Some wit (I wish I could remember who), suggested the name Krooked Leg Riders which was brilliant.

The 88' which had to go was named after my ex-fiancé, Katie 6fitty, cause for 1 it went nag, nag, nag, nag, nag as it idled, 2 it was given to me by the guy she ran off with and 3 no matter when I rode it it cost me another $650 (insert decimal where fitting). The 05' is for the lack of a better and suited name is "Trusty" cause its reliable.

'Little Blackie'

It was the name of Mattie's horse in True Grit. Rooster road it until it died trying to get Mattie to a doctor.

This photo was taken a few minutes after I dumped it riding down a logging road on Morris Knob in Tazewell County.

.

Jumped back on and finished the ride.

She asks; "Are we taking "DAbike"?

"It's a hassle to take the fishing poles on "DAbike".

"Farmer's Market today, we need the sidebags on "DAbike".

Title says I own it, but she got the naming rights.

The tractor. Old, slow and powerful. We're surrounded by tractors and fields out here so it fits.

The seat is the ball-buster. As far as I know, yellow cover is not commercially available.

Just laughed my ass off through this list. Great way to start a Tuesday.

I do like spider pig.

Don't recall when exactly but I started calling my '08 Grendel. Cause it's ugly. (Sorry folks) Compared to the Gen I, the II is just . . . Ugly. Love it, but ugly.

Even more so with a coat of matte black rattle can. And even worse with a coat of rattle can truck bed liner. But stealth like a . . . Really loud photon. Just slower.

I love my KLR.
