several of us from the bay area plan to arrive (mostly in the back of trucks...) thursday afternoon and depart monday morning, sites around 103 i believe. probably a mix of easy to intermediate klr type routes if anyone would like the safety of a group to ride with.

feel free to stop by for a beer and say hello!

Another great ride at Death Valley. lotsa folks this year... I'd say around 40-50 riders scattered throughout the park. Most of us were in smaller groups so we didn't get around too much but I think we all had a great time. I had two friends come out with us this year who had never been so it was a real treat to see them enjoying the park. Tim and Greg had a great time and promised to come back next year.

I had a few mech problems that required good ol KLR problem solving skills. My speedo cable came off and wrapped around my axle causing me to nearly do a STOPPIE! I riding through artists drive when it happened and luckily wasn't going too fast. With some help, I was able to zip tie the cable to my fork and keep on riding. Later the next day I noticed my left foot peg coming off so I tailored our route to run through Beatty so I could try to get it welded. A nice local guy was able to drag a rod on it so we were back on the trail minus the initial zip ties.

We had a couple of mishaps, the usual unscheduled get offs, and minor mech stuff but all in all another great trip. I'm looking forward to next year as usual....
I look forward to next year
