Default Spain....Where’s the KLR’s??

While touring Spain this year, I believe I’ve seen more motorcycles and scooters than ever before in my life. All manner of BMW, Yamaha, Honda, Ducati, Suzuki, plus brands and styles I’ve never heard of. I’ve seen 1 (one) Kawasaki in two weeks. Zero KLR’s. Dualsports are everywhere. Just no KLR’s. Wonder why?

Much stricter emission laws on that side of the pond. KLR's and similar carb bikes have been banned for many years.

Interesting. I saw at least 10 bazillion 2 stroke scooters and motos there trailing blue smoke, some quite new looking. Maybe it’s a displacement thing. In my state it’s probably a 1:5000 bike to car ratio. In Spain it was more like 1:20.

Like Chuck said, emissions and noise, now ABS and combined brakes.
Europe saw the last new KLR in 2003, 'twas the 650C.

650A-1987-1989
650B-1989-1991
650C-1995-1996, 1998-2003
650E-never

And as a side note
Honda XR650L - never !
