Marty I might take you up on a doo. I only have the PO's word on it having been done. If I wanted to get in there to check or possibly replace what would I need to get in the way of seals or other parts? I hadn't checked it yet due to the quandry of to order possibly un-needed parts versus a possible long down time.

I would like to come up from Colorado Springs. The only thing I really need done on mine is check the valves but I am only at 7000 miles on my 06 KLR. Other than that, maybe lube my fork stem and the swingarm.

Can that be done Sgt?

Be good to see all of ya!

Piece of pie (I like pie better than cake) just get there early enough for the machine to cool for the valve check. At 3600 miles, my "06" valves were at the far end of spec.

Will the parts be there in case I need them adjusted? I will certainly bring dinero to pay for any parts

Anyone driving down? Bring some ice, please.

I will have stuff to throw in the grill, plus chips, etc. I'm not making chili stew this time, so your taste buds will be spared.

I have a few, I've done it twice now so I may have some, however, I believe robbie7878 has first dibs. All we can do is hope, as the first time is always a crap shoot when we don't know what's already in there.

The KLR is very forgiving with valve checks, but we can give them a check if you like. Lubing the swingarm and steering stem can be done. I have Bel-Ray waterproof grease here.

Changing out the mechanical seal takes some time, but isn't hard. Driving the old seal out and the new on back in is the only tricky part. You'll need to drain both the oil and coolant, unless we lay the bike far over to the left (to save the oil--I've never done it that way, but we can give it a try). We can re-use the coolant if we keep it clean.

I've got lots of shims, and will swap them with any that need changing.

We will have lots of doo parts on hand if anyone hasn't got theirs yet.

Zach, I enjoyed your ride report with Kelly. I hope you guys can both make it down here.

I'll be driving down from Loveland, looking for the group of riders eating breakfast at Denny's and I'll bring the ice. I also have a lift I can throw in the back of the Explorer if that will help. My doo parts should be in today.

You know, I really don't feel I need to do the valve check yet. The bike is running better than great. Maybe I will tackle it myself on a long boring night this winter. I think I would rather just lube the swingarm and fork stem and hang out and have a good time with everyone and help when I can.

If I had thought ahead, I might have ordered the sub frame bolts and replaced them but I didn't.

Patrick.

So if a tech day happens awesome. Not sure if I'd have a dedicated project planned but I'm sure things will start coming up. I haven't even gotten more than a brief test ride on the bike yet.

Hi Marty,

I was hoping to make it down on Sunday to do a valve check, but it looks like I'll be working again. Anyway, thanks for hosting these tech days, and hopefully, I'll catch ya next time.
