Default Any Yellowknife Riders out there?

Hey Folks,
MOved from Ontario to Yellowknife in July. Looking to get some good rides in with 'Super-Cool' riders.

Also planning a trip from YK to Alaska for two weeks this summer! Consider joining the fun.

Cheers

Great ride last week. We just need a couple more riders and we will have a KLR gang.

There is a surprising number of KLR's in YK it seems. We can totally have a KLR gang haha. Maybe recruit some for the Wrigley?

Will you be at the Dust 2 Dawson Ride this year? Several of us from southern BC are planning to do the ride.

Very cool to see this thread......Cuz one of my bucket list items is to ride from my home in Iowa, USA to Yellowknife. Ever since I saw the movie The Snow Walker, I have had a big desire to go see Yellowknife. So tell me straight up.....Should I do it?

Absolutely you should do it! Yellowknife is stunning and its the HUB of the North. However its sort of the end-of-the road (well hwy). Id suggest finding your way up to Yellowknife, staying a few days to visit, and heading back down the highway (as you kind of have to)- trek west toward Yukon and get up to the Dempster toward Inuvik. In about 2 years the highway will go right up to Tuktoyaktuk. The Northwest Territories is really something to see.

Thank You. I just need to plan it and make it happen. If I could arrange something with a few forum friends, that would be very cool.

I rode up to the Yukon last year to attend the Dust 2 Dawson ride. Well worth going up there for that, very cool to be in perpetual daylight as the event is timed to occur during the summer solstice. Be sure to stop at Braeburn Lodge north of Whitehorse for a giant cinnamon bun!

The Whitehorse Transportation Museum is worth a look as well. There is an authentic DC3 set up on a pedestal that operates as a giant wind vane!

The scenery up there is truly awesome. This is on the Dome, behind the town of Dawson City.
