I want to get a 21" front to swap out my 19" wheel. Found some deals on KLR600 front rims. Still unsure if it's a plug and play process.

From another resource: Front wheel will fit. Weaker method of rotor attachment (pointed out to me by EagleMike). Rotors are are heavier but will fit. 600 has hollow axles, both will fit, rear will be about 3/4" too long.

Anyone care to opine?

The early 600 front hubs have no threads to fasten the front sprocket bolts.
The holes are straight thru and require a nut on the back.

I can take pictures and measurements of 600 and 650 axles later.

Excellent info. Thanks.

If it's not a great option, I can just look for a 650 front wheel.

1. I really, really like my 19" front wheel.
2. I'm planning a significant ride with two other riders, all of us on Gen 1 KLRs and I want to make sure we all have same or similar equipment. 17 rear and 21 front tubes would be so much easier to carry and share.

I'm looking to pick up an additional front 21" wheel and keep this 19" for the US.

How did your search for another front wheel go?

I run a 600 front wheel on my '05 (as my dirt wheel). I use the 600 axle too, I like the flat sides. when I first put the wheel on I left the 600 rotor on ... it worked but the pads hung about 1mm over.

the rear wheels are totally different because the 600 has a drum & the 650 has disc.
