Default LED headlight ?

I have a Gerbing heated jacket liner and gloves, wondering if they would have to big a draw on the battery, so wondering if switched to a LED headight would fix the problem ?

Determine the amount of Amperage the clothing will draw first.

I have an older jacket, and gloves from Gerbing. I also have stock headlight.
No problems running both. If you have to idle for long time, just increase RPM's slightly. Also suggest installing a voltage indicator on the bike to keep an eye on the amount of charge while riding. ( A good idea anyway, Always know what your charging system is doing.)
Here's one I've used on many bikes / tractor, etc. https://www.amazon.com/Kuryakyn-4218.../dp/B000GU5WNO

I read somewhere the Gen 2's have 7 free amps available, (under ideal conditions).
I have an older Gerbing jacket and gloves, combined they draw 8 amps.

I do use the Gerbing controller so I know I'm not always drawing the full amperage, but I've decided to go a different route as I don't feel there is enough gain switching to LED lights to justify the cost. My 2014 HD has factory LED headlights and spots, they're crap in the rain as the white light glares back instead of cutting through like a warm casndecent bulb does.

Going instead with Oxford grips, and Hippo Hands. My hands are the biggest problem, and another sweater will make up for the Gerbing jacket.

Volt meter is a great idea, I'll be adding that as well.

I ran IdaBaker's LED lights last year going to and from Inuvik. My Gerbing Jacket and Gloves ran fine with the Gerbing Digital Controller. My Voltmeter rarely read below 13.8 volts going down the road.

I've run the clothing with the stock H-7 bulbs as well, below 13.2 Volts at idle, but fine going down the road.

I had no trouble with the LED lights reflecting back through the rain, but...I wasn't riding at night either.

Thank you, great information !Never thought about adding a voltmeter, will do that for sure.
Thanks again.

Connect it where the power goes off, when you shut down. LED volt indicators draw a small amount of juice, but over time, it could draw down a battery, if you don't ride often.

I run a Gerbing jacket liner (no gloves) and don't have any issues. At idle I will switch to low beam, but my voltmeter suggests that the Gen 2 KLR holds up fine. I bought my voltmeter from Amazon and got like five or so for under $10. I mounted it under the cowl with JST connectors and a tie wrap strap. If if gets wet or breaks I will just plug in one of my spares. That said, it's been fine for over 2.5 years.
