Default Repairing the plastic black housing for the gauge cluster

Guys and gals:

Well being a cheapskate has kind of gotten the best of me. I ordered a eBay cluster for a first gen. The gauges are in decent shape. but the black surround has seen better days... I can get a new one for around $100!

Have any of you kind folks used cloth and resin to build up and repair plastic on the KLR's? If so, what brand do you recommend for purchase???

I don't have a picture of the damage handy at the moment. The cluster is in Tacoma at home. I'm in Renton for the next day or so.

Thanks

Perry

Found a new one, P/N 25023-1152, on a Dealer's site (rhymes with Godzilla) for $68.29 if that helps at all. Still not properly priced for a KLR650, but then again . . . an option I suppose.

Only thing I've used is super glue and baking soda. Worked ok.

Best,

Jeff

That glue method would work fine. Might want a bit of black paint.

None of the electronics in there is delicate. Worst that can happen is super glue runs down and glues one of the lamp holders in.
