I'll never need GRIP HEATERS! This is Laredo!

- SNIP - SNIP - There, removed...

Temps today in the high 30s and I want to ride...

A few more items sorted:

Seth received his new Mikuni carb, Raptor petcock, and Magura throttle, so I did the swap out for him.

That meant I got his very nice OEM carb, throttle & cables, and OEM petcock.

YESSIR!

Now it was basically down to the exhaust clamp, and it would be essentially rideable. There was still all the left switch cluster to sort, then it would be street legal...

Took it out for a spin with my 6-year-old Alex screaming at the top of his lungs as I'd give it a handful of "go"...

He really wanted to honk the horn, but the button isn't wired yet...

I installed the header clamp using (2) Norton exhaust crush gaskets cut into shape and high-temp siliconed in place.

...of course, the FIRST TIME my older son, Kevin takes it for a ride, he comes waddling back with a BIG OL' NAIL stuck in the rear tire.

The fun is just beginning...

Looks like the fun ended almost before it began!

I sold the KLR since I bought the Yamaha TDM850 which is better suited to my riding needs.

The buyer got a great deal at $950 with the flat tire. He should be checking in pretty soon, his name is Jon and he's from Arkansas. TREAT HIM NICELY, he's kinda new to riding altogether...

Hello All,

Yep, got a great deal from GranPaul! Drove down to Austin and back to Arkansas in a day.

And yes, this is my first bike and I'm totally new to this new world.

We started working on it almost as soon as we got it home.

We found there was a short in the wiring of the headlight, which was causing a heck of a problem, but we got that fixed on the 2nd night of work.

Removed the tank and getting it prepped for a good cleaning.

I've ordered a new break switch to engage the break light from the front break and air filter.

I'm thinking of eliminating the choke cable and adding the manual choke pull, since the choke switch was busted.

I need to get a new back tire, replace the fork seals and get a horn and wire it up.

I also want to replace the shock and spring as soon as I can, because it seems a bit tired and with my 6'9'' frame on it, I'm sure that will be better on both of us.

I'm slowly going to make the lighting system LED.

There is a few other things on the list to tackle.

This weekend's task list:

Take written motorcycle test
Secure up all the wiring
Clean and primer the fairings for paint
Clean out tank

Have a great weekend ya'll!

Cool. Sounds like it'll be quite right when it's done.

I was just going to dirt bike it, but I never have time for anything any more...

Here is a few great shots from us working on the wiring.
We totally went through the entire harness checking every connection and every wire.

At one point in time, the bike had a horn relay with heavy-duty stereo wires, but it wasn't working so I removed them.

Way off topic...

Grandpaul, are you going to the Harvest Classic in Luckenbach?

No, but I hitched a ride on a sidecar at Barber's Vintage Festival next month! I'll be delivering 3 bikes there.

Jon sent me some updated photos a while back, I'll transfer them from my smartphone and upload a couple.

My sidecar ride fizzled, the guys regular rider was able to get her vacation days. So, I offloaded FIVE bikes altogether, and the wyfe and I went to Memphis for a whole day and 2 nights. Great time, L-O-N-G drive.

I understand Jon is enjoying the KLR and nicely painted now...
