Can't make it have to take my daughter horseback riding with her Girl Scout troops.

Hey Marty

just looked at the parts fiche and the bearings are the same in my 08. So I could have swapped it out today but oh well. Thanks again for a great tech day.

Another great tech day. Seventeen riders came down to wrench or help others wrench. Quite a few doohickeys and torsion springs, one valve job, and various other tasks all got done.

My thanks to those who helped others and donated stuff for others to use. Also, thanks to my nephew, Dave, who showed up to help Laurie with the food.

Thanks so much for a wonderful tech day and meet up.

My bike seems to ride much better with the mods done (DoHicky, ThermoBob, & 14T Sprocket). Somehow my surging issue is less pronounced (don't know why), but even with the smaller sprocket I was able to attain a higher top speed - or at least it was able to get there easier.

Here's the link to my photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/JCorwin7...eat=directlink

...and as usual, now we are at the "where are my tools?" portion of the tech day.

A few missing 10mm and 12mm sockets and 1/4" extensions are a minor issue.

The larger issue are two missing tools that I use a lot.

A 6mm hex screwdriver similar to the one below, and a 10mm nut driver similar to the one below (but with orange inserts instead of green).

Please check your tools kits and see if they got scooped up.

Thanks for coming, everyone. I really do enjoy these kinds of get-togethers.

Also, to help Bill feel better, I found that the problem with my KLR was that I had made an adjustment to my handlebars that over-stretched the clutch cable. That caused it to be slipping the clutch a little bit all the time.

The cable has been re-adjusted and the bike runs fine. I'll put in a new clutch package before heading for Alaska (just in case the disks are glazed).

Also, the second wood bike stand is still AWOL. I thought someone had it, but that was my misunderstanding.

Laurie and I will be doing some easy dirt riding over the next couple weeks, and we'll post our ride plans in case anyone wants to join in. It'll be mostly around the Rampart, Pikes Peak, and Cripple Creek areas. We might be at the ADV Four Mile Freakout gathering near Buena Vista during the first weekend of June. We'll either go straight to Alaska from there or maybe come home for one night first. The next few days don't look like good weather, so we'll wait to see what it looks like later in the week.

I know I had put a 10mm & 8mm 1/4" drive socket in the gray case I was working out of (that were not in the case w/ I started), I think the sockets had come from the tool drawer. Hope that info helps some.
Other than that every tool I used was either placed back were it came from if I remembered where, or was put on the table or seat that held a pile of tools.

I hope everything gets tracked down quickly.

Once again, Thanks for the hospitality and know how/guidance.

Looks like another successful tech day! Wish I could have made it down, looks like the ride would have been much more cooperative than 2 weeks ago. Oh well, had to work all weekend, maybe next time.

Damn! I just saw this and have been wanting to meet Sgt Marty.

I have an '07 and '09 that need Doos.

I'll try to look out for the next opportunity.

We'll do it again later in the summer. Maybe early September or late August. Feel free to stop in. I'll start a thread when time nears.
