Default SgtMarty Tech Day September 2012

Okay, time to start planning the Autumn tech day.

I'm leaning toward September 15th. That work for anyone?

Plenty of time to order parts; early enough to get some nice, cool riding in before the witch of November comes stealin'.

I've been looking forward to one of your tech days SgtMarty.

I too am interested in learning how to do a valve adjustment and bringing along any shims y'all need for your sets.

I might be doin the bolt upgrade with the drill through too.

Everyone is welcome. For the valve checks, I'll swap my shims for yours, so that comes out even. Hopefully, I'll have any shim that might be needed. Nothing else is needed for just a valve check, and I have all the tools.

The drill-through subframe bolt just takes some time to drill. If you got the whole kit with the drill bits, we'll use yours, otherwise I have some drill bits that might be a bit dull from previous uses.

Yup. Pretty typical for 2-3 doos and a couple valve jobs.

SgtMarty. I'm about to purchase a KLR any day now, probably a 2008 completely stock so not sure if there is anything I need to do right now. Good news is I live in Palmer Lake so I think we're in the same area. I'll make it the 15th, just not sure if I'll have anything to do but maybe pick a few ideas. Look forward to the new adventure. Joe

No problems, Joe. There will be bikes there you can look at and see what they've done. Bring a beverage or three and just hang out.

I'm not looking to do any major work on the bike, but I will try to make it just to look around and get some ideas.

A stainless steel brake line and kevlar pads will do the trick, around $45 for the line, I bought kevlar pads off E bay for around $12 delivered.

The steel brake line will give you a noticeable improvement all by itself. If you want even more stopping power, an oversize rotor will give you that. I have an oversize rotor kit here that is for sale, $130. (I don't run the tech days as a business, but I do have extra parts that I've had around for a while.)
