Default KLR Cache - You Find It First, You Keep It

While out on my July 4th ride in California's Sierras (RR here), I hid a small cache of KLR themed stuff. If you are the first to ride to it and find it, you get to keep it.

If you find it, please post, PM or email that it has been found!

Cache:
2 reflective stickers (1 is a Zombie sticker) and two other little KLR trinkets

Location:
Stanislaus National Forest, California
N 37.7445278 , W 120.0329679

Description of Location: It is at the end of a small mountain paved road (no dirt or gravel riding required for this one). The cache is less than two feet off the road and should be easy to find (see pictures and hint below). From the cache location you have many options for riding
1) head up a dirt track to Yosemite
2) choose the other dirt road fork and ride to Bryceburg
3) back track a little and take paved stuff to Yosemite or other cool places in the area.

What's Close:
Yosemite, Cherry Lake, Tuolumne River, Mariposa, Hetch Hetchy, Sonora, Indian Casinos, etc.

Good Riding:
Tioga Pass, Sonora Pass, HWY49 (Little Dragon), HWY140 and tons of nice backroads
And literally hundreds of gravel, dirt & fire roads.

Why Did I Place This Cache:
Geocaching by KLR seemed like fun and I spent 3 days riding in the sierras and never saw another dual sport (let alone a KLR) - thought this might be a way to get you to ride here.

Hint: Pay attention to the yellow signs, they MAY be important

Very cool idea. I am going riding tomorrow but not likely to make it far enough to cash in on the offer but if I lived in Cali I would be after them. Anyone in CO want to leave some stickers for me to go get?

What a great idea. I've been geocaching for ten years and its time I put out a few that were "KLR Accessible".

Maybe a $20 Tim's card for the FTF.

I used to do alot of Geocaching. It is very fun. I need to start doing this again soon. Might be kinda cool to do some kind of a KLR only cache thread

The Cache Has Been Found

I got an email late this morning that the KLR Cache was recovered this morning by a KLR rider heading through Yosemite on a weekend ride.

I don't know who it is as they didn't include their screen name in the email. But they said they would post when they got the chance.

I figured it would take a little longer for someone to claim the KLR junk. GLad someone found it worth a little side trip.

man If you'd hide a spare set of wheels with some nice 606's mounted (maybe a MOAB shock i'll bring the tools....) I'd be tempted to ride out to find them... might be a good idea to ride out there even if there aren't any tires to find.... could use the shock though

I like the idea of the finder leaving something. But, not the same area. Put it in a new place, and leave clues. So that it is always changing.

Almost like that photo tag thing over on ADV. You take a picture of your bike in front of something/landmark, and then another rider has to find where it was, take a picture of their bike there, then take a picture of their bike at another place. That thread over there has gotten ridiculously long though. But seems like a fun game.

I decided to keep it pavement only, easy to get to and no walking/hiking cause:

1) I didn't know if anyone would even care
2) if no one cared, I'd have to go back and get it so I wasn't littering the forest

if I were to do it again, I'd make it slightly tougher, but not to much. Don't want to force people to go on hikes or anything.

My goal was to entice everyone to get out riding (cause a couple of pieces of KLR themed junk is such a huge lure) so I didn't want to place if for just elite offroaders or something (like I could get to an elite offroader spot anyway).

I'm glad someone took the time to change their route to grab it up.
