Default SgtMarty Colorado KLR Tech Day Sept 10, 2011

Okay, I've been pestered enough to pick a date for the next tech day.

Since the first weekend is September might include holiday activities for some folks, I'll go with the second Saturday.

Saturday, September 10, 2011
Anytime after 9 am

Snacks and some beverages will be provided.

Bring your parts or arrange with me to have them here. Eagle Mike will ship parts to me if that's easier for you. I have some extra fork oil and brake fluid, but I'm running low on engine oil and coolant--so bring that if you need it.

SgtMarty dot com for directions and more info.

For now, tools are good (thanks to those who helped out after some things went missing).

I don't have a food plan yet, aside from snacks, but I'm sure something will get done.

Watch out. I've found gravity to be extra strong around Sgt. Marty's tech days.

I really should have gotten a picture . . .

So....

Not much interest after all?

That would be good to know before I clean out the garage.

I bought a 2011 KLR in June, I'd like to attend your tech day. I need to know what mods I will need to do and how to do them.

I always recommend upgrading the doohickey (balancer chain idler shaft adjustment lever). You can get the lever and a torsion spring from eagle-m-e.com or from a few other sites. Just make sure it's an authentic Eagle part--there are some imitations out there.

If many other riders show up, you can see what they have done to their bikes.

SgtMarty dot com for details on the tech day.

I'll order the kit from Eagle Mike, tomorrow. Will we have enough time to do the doo?

The doo is a fairly quick install, no problems there. We'll make time, although they usually all get done just in the natural course of the day.

As Kawioops pointed out, we'll have plenty of time for whatever needs to get done--especially since this looks to be a fairly light tech day so far.

No need to bring tools; just bring your oil, Doug. Mike will ship your parts to you or to my place. I have gaskets and other minor parts on hand, too, so don't worry about that stuff.

The drill-through ones? No problem either way, so bring it down.

Colorado, between Denver and Colorado Springs.

More info in the first post, including reference to site with directions to my place.

Twist my arm, most likely I'll be there.

First I need to take my KLR out and stomp it some so I will have something to fix. I was wondering if the bike is running smooth at 20K should one attempt to check the values just in case?

I'll post more later.
